The 2013-14 Senior Scholarship Book
Seniors!
We are having a lot of fun talking to you about graduation requirements, scholarships, college, and more during your senior credit checks. As promised here is the link to the DCPS Scholarship Book. Please check it out and apply for any scholarship that you qualify for. If you were absent during your senior credit check, we will call for you next week. So far we've met with the following English classes: all of Devaney's, Ms. Harman's, half of Ms. Sweet's classes. We still need to meet with Ms. Sweet's B-Day classes and Ms. Johnson's classes.

JGTA Scholarship
Julius Guinyard Tennis Association
The JGTA is offering two(2) scholarships for $500 each to
high school seniors that volunteer to assist with JGTA events.
Criteria:
- Minimum of 15 volunteer hours by supporting JGTA
events (meetings, tennis lessons, tournament, etc.)
- Proof of acceptance to an accredited college
- 500 word essay: “How can I benefit from tennis?”
Volunteer opportunities in the following areas:
- Tennis
- Working with children
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Web Page Development
- Meeting Preparation
- Event Planning
- Fundraising
Submit criteria requirements by June 14, 2013 via email to

This is a great opportunity for a high school senior to gain a

Shawn Carter Scholarship
APPLICATION DEADLINE is May 31, 2013
The Shawn Carter (Jay-Z) Scholarship Fund offers scholarship opportunities to any under-served student across the United States.
Qualified
applicant must be a high school senior, college student, and/or between
the ages of 18-25, pursuing studies at a vocational or trade school.
The Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation is unique in that it offers scholarships to single mothers, children who attend alternative schools, students who have earned a GED, students with grade point averages of 2.0 and students who have previously been incarcerated, etc. but desire a higher education.
One of the key questions asked by the Foundation when students apply for a scholarship is: What are your plans to give back to the community?

We would like to announce the availability of four (4) $1000 scholarships to qualified graduating seniors of Asian descent. The Jacksonville Asian American Alliance (JAAA), (501c (3)) a nonprofit organization offers annual scholarships to Asian American high school seniors. The required qualifications and application are attached for your review. Please download an application, requirements and instructions for the scholarship at www.jaxaaa.org.

Florida PTA Scholarship
Florida PTA is pleased to offer a total of four (4) scholarships, one each in the following categories: University, Fine Arts, Community College, and Vo-Tech, to a student graduating in the 2012-2013 school year. This is a one time (nonrenewable) award of $2,000.00 and will be awarded to a worthy student who is interested in getting a start in life through higher education.
This award is specifically for a student who wishes to pursue their education at a Florida University, Fine Arts School, Community College, or Vo-Tech.
Requirements for each student to apply for this scholarship include:
Graduate from a Florida High School in the 2012-2013 school year.
Be a member of their high school’s PTA/PTSA or the Sunshine State PTSA (PTA/PTSA must be in good standing).
Be a resident of the state of Florida.
Planning to continue their education in the 2013-2014 school year in the state of Florida at a University, Fine Arts, Community College or VoTech.
Fully complete the application (attached) and submit letters of recommendation, an essay, and copies of their official high school transcript, ACT and/or SAT scores.
Additional factors will be taken into consideration in selecting a winner (e.g. need, special circumstances, extracurricular activities and honors, etc.).
Deadline for all applications is February 1, 2013. All applications must be postmarked by February 1, 2013, to be considered.

ABOUT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
In keeping with our policy of providing quality education for young
people, Florida PTA goes one step further by assisting qualified
students who wish to continue their education beyond high school.
Florida PTA offers scholarship opportunities funded by money derived
from Honorary Life Memberships, Scholarship Fund functions and other
contributions.
Florida PTA is pleased to offer a total of four (4) scholarships, one
each in the following categories: University, Fine Arts, Community
College, and Vo-Tech, to a student graduating in the 2012-2013 school
year. This is a one time (non-renewable) award of $2,000.00 and will be
