Scheduling for 2013-2014
During the months of March and April, school counselors began
orientation for scheduling our 9th through 11th graders
and all of the Beaches middle school 8th graders for the 2013-2014
school year. Following these
orientations, our counselors met with over 2200 students to individually select
their classes for next year
A list of the
classes that the students selected will be mailed home, along with their end of
the year report card. Please be sure to review this Course Request Form with your student as there will be no schedule changes during the school year.

What does it mean to
you if you are NOT postsecondary ready?
Ø
If you do not have Postsecondary Ready scores by the
start of your senior year the state requires that you be scheduled into
remedial courses in Reading, Writing and/or Math to help you become
Postsecondary Ready by the time you graduate.
Ø
There is no waiver for this state requirement. You will
be losing opportunities for electives.
Ø
After graduation, if you enroll at a community or state
college you will have to take additional remedial courses, PAY for the remedial
courses (they may not be covered by financial aid), and you WILL NOT receive
college credit for the remedial courses.

Dear Senior Parents,
If you
have not already completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid

The deadlines to complete FAFSA are earlier at some State of

Florida Bright Futures scholarship now requires a
completed FAFSA and the student to complete community service hours--

the Academic Bright Futures scholarship. ALL community service hours
MUST BE COMPLETED AND TURNED IN TO YOUR CHILD’S
GUIDANCE COUNSELOR BEFORE GRADUATION DAY. No community service hours
can be accumulated or turned in after graduation day. Please contact
your child's guidance counselor if you have general questions. For
details and to apply for FAFSA, please go to
