ACT-SO Program 2013-2014

NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) is a program for  students of African descent ,who are US citizens, enrolled in grades 9-12, amateurs in their categories’ of competition.  The program is designed to be a learning experience, enrichment, mentoring, opportunities to connect with leaders in the community with scholarship opportunities and
·         the chance to compete at the national level in Las Vegas.
·         Applications are due by January 10, 2014
·         There is a Student Orientation for those accepted on January 25, 2014
·         This is a national competition, with 27 competition categories’ including the Sciences, Humanities, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Business.
·         Each students can compete in UP TO THREE AREAS
·         Past ACT-SO participants include actors Anthony Anderson and Jada Pinkett-Smith, film makes John Singleton and recording artist Kanye West.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund - Undocumented

Scholarship season is well underway.  We want to let you know about the multitude of scholarships that are available to you. To try to keep you up to date on the frequent postings, check the blog, our twitter @fhsguidance and our livebinders page http://www.livebinders.com/play/play/1109458

Remember, if the scholarship that you're applying to requires a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, etc., be courteous and give that person at least a week's notice.  DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE DUE DATE to request important documents like a letter of recommendation or a transcript. 

Transcripts can be requested to be sent by Mrs. Rhone-Colson, our registrar, in the guidance office.
