Dear Senior Parents,
If you
have not already completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) for your senior child, it is very important that do so today.
You must complete the FAFSA application in Florida prior to May 15, 2013.
The deadlines to complete FAFSA are earlier at some State of
Florida higher education institutions. Please check with the
institution of your choice for this information. Also, be aware that the
Florida Bright Futures scholarship now requires a
completed FAFSA and the student to complete community service hours--
75 hours for the Medallion Bright Futures scholarship and 100 hours for
the Academic Bright Futures scholarship. ALL community service hours
MUST BE COMPLETED AND TURNED IN TO YOUR CHILD’S
GUIDANCE COUNSELOR BEFORE GRADUATION DAY. No community service hours
can be accumulated or turned in after graduation day. Please contact
your child's guidance counselor if you have general questions. For
details and to apply for FAFSA, please go to
www.fafsa.ed.gov.
